corn silver cuff, Andrew Alvarez (Apache)
There are very few Apache jewelers, but those few are stellar, and Andrew Redhorse Alvarez is one of the stars. He jokes that he has “turquoise blue blood” because he appreciates and uses top quality stones - like the fabulous, natural, Persian spider web turquoise in this gorgeous bracelet.
Corn is the Native symbol of abundance, good health, and happiness. A thick slice of yellow mother-of-pearl is cut into a luminous ear of corn that peeps out from tendrils of textured silver “corn husk”, There are natural blue tourmalines on either side, sparkling like dew-drops, and a single, natural garnet to the right. Applied polished silver cornstalks curl around the sides of the bracelet.

Inspired by Victorian mourning symbols, Gisele Ganne creates a collection that is breathtakingly unforgettable. I especially love the intricate flower detail on some of pieces which were inspired the French tradition of keeping your flowers in a glass jar after a wedding. Although the rings are to mourn divorce, designer Gisele Ganne adds beauty to sorrow and creates rings worth breaking up for.
